Robin Hood men in Gap had me worried. I was concerned the creativity, box ticking types had taken over BBC’s new fun drama output. However I liked Torchwood. Epidsode Two may well mean it never gets a mainstream audience in some countries and it isn’t exactly a new idea although the little piles of ash had an amusing quality. Lots of nice little nods to other Science Fiction shows, not just Dr Who. Liked the Silence of the Lambs holding cells. What struck me most was the similarities in the set up to Channel 4’s Ultraviolet. A secret organisation discovered by a regular police officer who is recruited to beef up the investigation side of the outfit. Still a slightly camp, panto take on the concept. With aliens. And dinosaurs.
Looking forward to episode 3.
