Dirk Dangerous and the Giant Balls of Doom: Accepted

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Astonishing Adventures Magazine has accepted my short story Dirk Dangerous and the Giant Balls of Doom for issue 8.  I’ve one minor rewrite to do and I’m going to look at adding back in some of what I cut to get it down to 3000 words since their word limits gone up since I first […]

Fairy Tale Castle

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Another quick test render of the I just finished of The Gothic Castle from Cornucopia 3D’s. Having gone all dark and gloomy last time I’ve gone for the opposite extreme: lightening the materials, a bright atmosphere with a low cloud layer and a hundred low power point lights scattered invisibly round the castle to light […]

Blogging Differently

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

I noticed awhile ago that I was blogging less.  Partly I put it down to frustration with the time it took me to add a page to my web site.  If I couldn’t easily add a page about something I didn’t need to blog about the page.  Partly it was a disatisfaction with the blog […]

Chicken and Plum Casserole

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

An unusual and tasty casserole that’s great as the cold winter nights draw in. Serve with bread or rice. Pork or turkey can be used instead of the chicken. Serves 4. Ingredients 2 rashers of back bacon chopped 1tbsp sunflower oil 450g boneless chicken thigh or breast cut into large chunks 1 clove gralic crushed […]

The Gothic Castle Test Render

A quick test render I just finished of The Gothic Castle from Cornucopia 3D’s which I picked up last night. I tweaked the wall material to make it darker and the glass materials to make them illuminated. I also played a bit with the atmosphere for effect. I darkened up the final render using Vue’s […]

Three Scripts Night

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Tonight I’ve made a couple of minor updates on Add Material Layer for a bug. I’ve also put out a new python script to save a sequence of selected objects from Vue.

Object Sequence Loader Page

Monday, September 7th, 2009

I thought I’d made a page for every Vue python script but I discovered I’d missed one for the Object Sequence Loader.  So I’ve rectified that tonight just in time to watch The Wire.

Add Material Layers Updated

Friday, September 4th, 2009

I’ve updated the Add Material Layers python script for Vue I released last week and added a second script. The original script added the layer at the bottom of all the layers. The new script adds a layer at the top.

Updated Save and Load Camera Animation Scripts

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

After a request for improved features from Vladimir Chopine I’ve updated my Save and Load camera animation python scripts for Vue to cover more than just position and rotation. They now handle Depth of Field, Exposure, Focal Length, Focus Distance, Lens Aberration, Horizontal Film Shift and Vertical Film Shift. They should work with both animated […]

Prompted by a discussion on the SFSFW’s mailing list about alternate history I’ve added a page for a revised version of my STEEPVM series of blog posts today.
