The last exhibition of my summer trip to London was Robots at Science Museum and after being disappointed by Into the Unknown: a journey through Science Fiction at the Barbican I almost skipped it. I’m glad I didn’t.
It starts strong with an exploration of clockwork machines. It dips a tiny bit with a room exploring science fiction robots which feels a bit lightweight after the first part having original Science Fiction models lifts it. Then a room explores current technology with a series of films of experts explaining their area of expertise. Sadly, the audio was hard to make out so reading the subtitles is a must. Finally, there is a room of real robots most of which are operational.
Overall good although in terms of value for money it could really have done with being longer.
