Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2015

I took far too many photographs of this year’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion by selgascano. This one seems a lot more fragile than previous pavilions and it was being repaired at least twice on the three times I visited.  But these Pavilions are temporary so its more appropriate in a way than some of the heavyweight, permanant feeling structures of past years.

It also changes more than any of the other Pavilions I’ve seen with the light.  Different times of day and weather conditions change its appearance significantly.  Where the 2012 Pavilion reflected the sky in the shallow pool on its roof this one reflects the sky in places and allows its to shine through in others.

It seems to provoke a reaction – I was amused to overhear a short, balding gentleman proclaiming extremely loudly how impractical it was to his significantly younger, significantly taller female companion how impractical it was as they jogged around it.  Or more precisely she jogged around it several times while he went round once trying to get his breath back.

I’ve finally assembled some of the photographs I took into what I’ll snappily call a Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2015 Gallery.
