Vue Lighting Rig #5: Halloween Special

Monday, October 29th, 2007

This week I’m taking a break from working through the most common forms of theatrical lighting to bring you a Halloween special. This lighting rig is a popular lighting technique used in theatre and once popular in film and television although now more often seen in parody. A light source shines from below and close […]

Thursday Thirteen #32 – Getting Started in 3D Graphics

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

My Wordless Wednesday post yesterday led to an e-mail asking what to buy to give 3d computer graphics a go. I realised I was suggesting around 13 points in my reply so I thought I’d use it as my Thursday Thirteen tonight A reasonably up to date computer with at least the recommended specification for […]

Vue Lighting Rig #2: Single Spot Slightly to One Side

Monday, October 8th, 2007

This second of my lighting rigs for Vue and another really snappy title following on from last weeks Vue Lighting Rig #1: Single Spot Overhead. This week the point light has been moved slightly to one side and angled so it shines on the figure including both the top of their head and the bottom […]

Face Shop Pro – Just Not Ready for the Big Time

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

I’ve never returned a product to Daz before but Face Shop Pro just didn’t live up to the product description for me. I’ve given it quite a lot of time. I’ve read the manual. Repeatedly. The morphs were, saddly, either too uneven to be worth using or had strange bits that stuck out. A couple […]

Face Shop Pro – First Impressions

Monday, April 30th, 2007

I picked up Face Shop Pro from the Daz web site earlier. So far my impressions of it are so so. When I tried it on the M3 head model they include with it the resulting mesh looks pretty good but Poser didn’t like it as a morph target which makes it pretty useless. So […]

Creating the Inventor's Work Bench

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The picture I used for my Wordless Wednesday this week was made for the latest issue of Ragnarok. Various 3d models were assembled in Vue 6 Infinite but this one could have been made in any version of Vue. I’ll start with the easy bits. The bench itself is a cube with the old wood […]
