Albert Dock in the Fog
Wednesday, December 8th, 2010Sunday night a thick fog descended on Liverpool. By Monday lunchtime it had lifted but I was still able to get some interesting photographs down on the waterfront at Lunchtime. I was surprised how many people were out with their cameras. Normally if I wander down there at lunch time there will be tourists about. […]
MPI Resolution Docked in Liverpool
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010I’d gone down to the waterfront to take some photograph today and discovered the MPI Resolution was docked on the Mersey at the cruise liner terminal. If a ship could ever be described as an impressive piece of kit this one has to be in the running to get that description. The six towers are […]
Chavasse Park Ride
Wednesday, November 10th, 2010Over the last few days a giant column has risen from Chavasse Park in Liverpool One. Tonight the ride that goes up it swung into action for the first time. We can just hear the screams from our office. It seemed like a good subject for having a go at some night photography. This is […]
Every Shop Window is a Soap Box, 2010
Wednesday, October 20th, 2010Renshaw Street in Liverpool has been the home of Rapid Hardware all the time I’ve lived here. It took up so many of the shops along one side of the street that it was commonly known as Rapid Hardware Street. When they moved into the old George Henry Lee’s / John Lewis building it left […]
Do Ho Suh's Between, Liverpool
Wednesday, October 6th, 2010Do Ho Suh’s Between is one of the larger pieces in the Liverpool Biennial 2010. Its on a slightly smaller scale to Rotating Yates’s Wine Lodge Building but only just. I’ve seen quite a few similar photographs to the one above on newspaper websites. I decided to take a closer look because the level of […]
The Design Museum London
Wednesday, September 29th, 2010I’m a bit late posting a picture today because I’ve been trying to decide which one to use. I took myself off to London last week for a few days and during the day went a little bit crazy and took quite a few pictures. I wanted to use one of the Design Museum as […]
Chinese Lion Liverpool
Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010A photograph of one of the Chinese lions around Liverpool’s Chinatown. This one stands under the Chinese gate I posted a picture of a few weeks ago.
Rattus Banksius
Wednesday, September 1st, 2010Two photographs this week both of the Rat painted in 2004 by Banksy as part of the Liverpool Biennial on the derelict White House pub on the corner of Duke Street and Berry Street. It’s hard to tell now what the rat is holding as one of the original boards is missing. Some (especially journalists […]
16 Cook Street, Liverpool
Wednesday, August 25th, 201016 Cook Street, Liverpool isn’t the most astonishing building ever but the Grade II* Listed Building is one of only two by the architect Peter Ellis. I originally went out to photograph his other building, Oriel Chambers, but it was covered in scaffolding when I walked to it so I’ve picked out his Cook Street […]
Liverpool's Ornamental Gate to Chinatown
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010The ornamental gate to Chinatown, Liverpool on Nelson Street. Unfortunately the dramatic sky doesn’t really show up as well as I’d hoped in the photograph but it does frame the top of the gate nicely. The arch is the largest of its kind outside of China.
