Real Life More Unbelievable than Fiction

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

This news story from the BBC tickled me. I know it’s really potetially serious but it just sounds like it came out of a sitcom set in a school. School’s WWII bomb polished off

Content, Content, Content

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

After watching CSI last night (finally this season seems to have gotten going with last night’s episode) I set to work pulling content for my new site together. Some articles I wrote for Valkyrie, some stuff I wrote for defunct web sites, some of my pictures and some stuff from my old web site. Then […]

No Bifrost 2006

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

As readers of the SFSFW’s mailing list will now know we’ve had to cancel our annual show this year 🙁 The hall we’ve used for several years hiked the price and couldn’t supply us with the facilities we needed. After a two month search we haven’t found a replacement venue. So no Bifrost 2006 but, […]

Battleship Potemkin Moment

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Life imitated art this morning in a little way. As I was walking to work a woman was sorting out her toddlers gloves and hats by a shop door. She had a push chair trapped against her foot. A gust of wind caught it and blew it away towards a slip road that runs along […]

FFSDiNoaN has a Name.

Monday, March 13th, 2006

I think I’ve found an appropriate name for FFSDiNoaN. I’ve started replacing modern English place holder names for concepts from an older, nearly gone culture with old English I’ve picked a name from Old English. “Árǽdan” which means Prophecy. So unless I come up with something better thats the new working title for the story.

Image Good. Background Bad.

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

After an afternoon spent making cogs in Cinema 4D and a rendering them in Vue 5 Infinite and I had a nice image to use a background for my new web site. Unfortunately all it does when added to the page is either interfere with the readability of the text if its big enough to […]

CSS Hacking

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

Fought against the cold and managed to spend a few hours hacking CSS. I’m a lot closer to having my new web site’s design done now. Just playing with background images to give it more visual interest. I don’t think I’ve used a background image on a site since sometime in 1997. I may not […]

Defeated by the Common Cold

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

Well yesterday was a wash out. Spent most of the day trying to keep warm. Then watched the new series of Hustle. Not that it was bad. Slickly made. Well acted. Cheeky. But how many more times can they do a variant on “The Sting” before someone calls the plot police and their writer’s artistic […]

Half Way There

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

A bit more editing tonight and I’m half way to a second draft of the FFSDiNoaN. I’d say more but I’ve picked up a cold and all I want to do is to go to bed.

One Third Done

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Well another night of editing and now I’m about a third done with trying to polish the story. Not really the most exciting stuff in the world to talk about.
