Bored to tears by Python DOM

Monday, August 14th, 2006

Following on from yesterdays boredom I’m now even more bored. Another hour using Python’s DOM functions to read in data. Yesterday I was learning some new Python stuff getting to grips first with Python’s SAX handlers and then DOM once I decided to use that instead. Today was just repetitive use of a few commands […]

VueDynamics Boring Progress

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

There comes a time in any software development that you have to spend time doing boring stuff. Today I’ve been slogging through loading XML configuration files into VueDynamics. I am now officially bored.

RealFlow into Vue Experiments

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I’d been playing with importing sequences of wavefront object files as a way of bringing animations into Vue from other applications. Yesterday someone asked about importing a sequence from RealFlow. Fortunately I have a none commercial use copy of RealFlow that came on a cover disc a while ago. So I’ve been trying to get […]

Unnamed Vue Picture

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

I’d left Vue rendering this one today while I was at work. While it originally estimated 15 hours for the print size size image it turned out to need less than 5 in the end. I don’t normally use global radiosity but I did with this picture for a change. It made the roadside bushes […]

Object Sequence Loader Python Script for Vue

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

A python script for Vue 5 Infinite (it might work in Vue 4 Pro but I haven’t tested it) that loads a sequence of 3d files using each one in turn as the next step in an animation. To use it the script must be placed in the directory containing the files to be imported […]

Vue 6 Python?

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

I’ve watched the trailer; I’ve read the web pages; and I’m definitely excited about Vue 6. No word on python support in Vue 6 yet but I’m sure E-on will let us know more as the release approaches.

Virtual Fashion for Poser Settings

Friday, July 28th, 2006

I just got an e-mail asking about the settings I used with Virtual Fashion for Poser to get a cloth simulation that didn’t take days to run as mentioned in my earlier Virtual Fashion for Poser post. In case anyone else was wondering here are the settings I used… The key things I’ve found to […]

Vue News Blog

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

I got really fed up when searching the web the other night for some information about Vue that I’ve started a new collaborative Blog just to try to collect Vue news. Jim Coe is going to be contributing too. If you would like to help out with an occasional post drop me an e-mail mark@www.impworks.co.uk […]

Pull the other one it has bells on!

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

I won’t be getting the hour back I just spent writing README files for all the Vue Python scripts I’ve put on my site. I wouldn’t have bothered but I started getting some weird e-mails about redistributing the scripts on DVD at my expense. I’ve not seen that scam before and I can’t see many […]

Dark skies fall down into another day

Friday, July 14th, 2006

A picture I’m working on using Vue 5 Infinite. The lighting is more complicated that it looks as the two trees are lit separately from the rest of the scene to make them stand out. The title of the post is two lines from the song by Enya "Storms in Africa Part II".
