I’d been stuck on how to move the Noir on. I’d written a scene that just didn’t seem to gell. Kim suggested I have the characters making tea (Thanks Kim). So I rewrote the scene, got the hero into a fight and into the next scene where he could pick up the next clue he needed. Now I just have to figure out how to get him from an eighth floor hospital room in a foreign country in the twenty first century back to Britain in the ninteen fifties.

Tea has a lot more actions to it though.
And to warm the pot, or not to warm the pot, that is the question
So there are a variety of different options with coffee. Tea is just bag or leaves. Coffee you get instant, can grind the beans, pound them. Lots of choices. You could even add a splash of alcohol but I think we might need safety training before attempting that :)
It's more of an angry moment. Especially if you squash the coffee.
And I can only hope to work my way up to alcohol...
You'll have to let us know how the experiment goes. Is it suitable for a full lenght piece of dialogue or just a quick sound bite?
Watching Cracker last night I noticed Jimmy McGovern resorted to two bottles of single malt whisky. It takes a really experienced writer to handle hard liquor for a dialogue scene like that.
So they made tea? Excellent.
I've tried a varient - making coffee. It's experimental, I know...
