The Golden Compass

I’m not going to analyse this on in any great depth and having not read the book I can’t compare it to that. Enjoyable, well acted fun with good special effects. It suffered from a little bit too much of the coo look its X, oh look they’ve gone. Sometimes using a recognisable actor in a cameo can distract from the story and the danger with that is I’m left wondering if the whole film was more smoke and mirrors than substance. The idea of another dimension where every person’s soul takes on an external, physical, animal form that can be conversed with and act.
