Pifl ’81 Day 8: Pifl

Sunday, January 8th, 2023

The town of Pifl lies at the mouth of the river Fl entering the North Sea. The Fl is formed by water running off the three moors that lie to the north, west and south. A string of picturesque villages collectively known as the Hibernals lie in the valley and on the valley’s slopes. Sommervin, a cluster of former mining villages lie to the north of Pifl. Heading south from the town, past the Polytechnic campus, there is a scattering of campgrounds and caravan parks until Coterel Bay. Heading inland from Coterel the giant puff balls of the RAF early warning radar station are the most prominent feature on the moor.
