impworks Web Site Maintenance

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Just the usual round of boring web site maintenance on my impworkssite tonight, some tweaking on the Vue Squidoo Lens, the Vue Python Squidoo Lens, the Vue google search and my Disavowed-1010 blog. Dull but all neccessary.

A Vue Accident Waiting to Happen

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I was messing around with Vue and Apophysis a free fractal flames generator for Windows. The render is a simple sphere with a texture derived from a single fractal flame applied to it. Just a quick render without a lot of thought about composition but still there is something rather dynamic about the flames.

Day Trip into the Past

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

I was invited by a friend to join a day trip round three sites in the North West including a hill fort, some early mines and the stone remains of a burial mound. Getting into town to meet the coach almost proved a difficult proposition because the first bus only just got into the city […]

Dr Who – Smith and Jones

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Due to tiredness and need to be up early today (see my post later once I’ve picked out a picture to go with it) delayed this post till today. I’ll not spend too much time on it to avoid posting any spoilers. Enjoyable fluff that made logical sense and was coherent without an over reliance […]

300

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Went to see 300 a couple of days ago. I enjoyed it and was surprised because it was less styalised than I’d expected from some of the reviews I’d read. It’s success shows Gladiator wasn’t a one off revival of the epic. I did find it a little uncomfortable in places with the violence a […]

Cell Shading Tutorial from Brady Mac

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I got a sneak peak at Brady Mac’s new Toon shading tutorial for Poser and Vue this week. It’s a very simple and effective way of bringing the two applications together to produce a different type of image. The picture above is the first one I made following the tutorial after a few quick test […]

Taking a Moment

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Just been watching Life on Mars. Despite the way their trying to cram every possible social issue in the 8 episodes they’ve got before it’s all over it’s still some of the best TV around. It set me thinking how if in the 70s when I saw a computer that occupied a wall of a […]

Sherlock Holmes And The Baker Street Irregulars

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Watched the first part of the new BBC two part Sherlock Holmes And The Baker Street Irregulars while running a render this afternoon. Not another adaptation of a Conan Doyle but a new story inspired by his work. I’d been a bit nervous they might have gone all Robin Hood Men in Gap on it. […]

How Much Does a Character Need to Explain

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

The main character of my Noir Fairy Tale is given to contemplating the nature of the universe he’s experiencing and the impact of the plot on that reality. I’ve started wondering if he may be explaining a bit too much sometimes. I can see it’s going to be an interesting edit process deciding when it’s […]
