Thursday Thirteen #21

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

My Thirteen Things this week is for Lori who wanted to know how I change the date. Here are (somewhat more than) thirteen ways to travel in time Mark Caldwell might have used and possibly the real one too…

  1. A Police Box (Doctor Who)
  2. A Wardrobe (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis)
  3. A direct strike from a Nuclear warhead (Farnham’s Freehold, Robert A Heinlein)
  4. A DeLorean (Back to the Future)
  5. Visiting with fairies (Mythology)
  6. Thinking hard (Heroes)
  7. A Quantum Accelerator (Quantum Leap)
  8. Cryogenics (The Door into Summer, Robert A Heinlein)
  9. Being a Miser (A Christmas Carol, Dickens)
  10. A Lame Demon (Paris avant les homes, Pierre Boitard)
  11. A Time Machine (The Time Machine, H.G. Wells)
  12. Just about any method you can think of covered above and a few that aren’t including travelling very fast and stepping through a portal (Star Trek)
  13. Dreaming
  14. Reading a good book
  15. Setting your clocks to the wrong time
  16. Living in an earlier time zone
  17. Using the button at the bottom of the blogger panel to change the time or date

If you could travel in time when would you go to?

What a creative post for TT!! Too cute, I love the last one ;-)

Christine d'Abo Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Man I love Doctor Who. I'd be in that TARDIS so fast you wouldn't see me move!

Starrlight Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

What an inspired list!

Alasandra Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Thanks for visiting my TT.

A DeLorean would be my first choice for time travel or just running to the store for that matter. I think they are cute.

But a good book is a priceless way to travel through time. And you don't have to worry about getting eaten by a dinosaur, one of your parents having a crush on you, getting caught in a war zone or any of those pesky little problems with real time travel.

Nicole Austin Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I think I'd go in a zap of electricity like in Terminator, although with the annoying part of leaving your clothes behind. LOL!

Happy TT!

Good list. I am with wordpress and have been frustrated at posting on Wednesday, then doing my TT and posting after midnight only to have Wednesday's date on it, and it looks like I have no Thursday post. I will see what we have for that purpose. I prefer most of your methods however.

KarenW Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Cool list! I would like to go back to colonial America - just for a couple of hours. I really prefer modern conveniences.

MissMeliss Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I love your lists - this one was great fun. (You forgot self hypnosis after purging your immediate area of reminders of the current time/date, a la "Somewhere in Time")

As for me, I'd like to visit Paris in the 1920's, but only if I knew I could get "home."

cajunvegan Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my TT!

Happy Mama to Three Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Qtpies7 Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

great list! I haven't read/seen some of those, but the DeLorean is a great one!

Sparky Duck Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I was going to be concerned if the DeLorean did not get mentioned.

I would probably go back to just before the start of college and see if I could change some decisions ive made.

Tina K Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Wonderful, beautiful list. My method of choice isn't listed - Tesseract, from A Wrinkle in Time.

Erin Gordon Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Where would I go if I could travel in time? What an awesome question and why don't have an answer handy. I'm gonna have to think about, I suck!!

Wacky Mommy Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

*That* is a cool list.

Shannon Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I love the Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, that would be a cool thing to do. I would probably want to travel back to high school, I had so much fun! :)

Lazy Daisy Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Love the idea and love your ideas and the shows you took them from. I especially enjoyed the last 4 ideas. Very clever. I daydream all the time.

Cordia Amant Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I've always wanted to cross the international date line and go a day ahead or behind. Rather boring compared to yours, I know, but something fun, nonetheless.

MamaLee Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

I'll go with the transporter, too! Happy TT!

Damozel Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

You know, time travel doesn't appeal to me at's dangerous stuff judging by Dr. Who and some of the others. But if I had to go, I'd like to use #1 (the tardis)

Tink Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

I'd love to visit the middle ages, ancient Egypt... so many places and times!
My #51 teaches you about the provinces of The Netherlands!

Robin Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

That's fantastic! The wardrobe and the Delorean have always been two of my favorites.

Happy TT.

The Gal Herself Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

What a great idea! I think I'd like to travel just about 90 days into the future. I'd know if exercise and salad helped me lose weight, and other great life mysteries I'm currently wrestling with.

Sue Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

I use the DeLorean method .. ;)

Nancy Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

I go meet Jamie from the Outlander series using stone similar to Stonehenge.

I am so there when the transporter becomes available for sale.

SusieJ Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Yes -- a good trick to know how to do!!

YellowRose Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

My 13 isn't up yet, but to answer your question, I think I'd like to travel in the Blue Box, like Dr. Who does. That seems quite fun, or the Wardrobe would be nice, not so bumpy! lol

Fun list!! Happy Thursday!

Gabrielle Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

On the day I was born :) Happy T13!
